Leading with Purpose in the age of geopolitics and technological disruption.
HBSAHK Signature Conference 2027 Asia Pacific. A full day with Harvard faculty, alumni and industry leaders from across Asia, hosted in Hong Kong by the HBS Association of Hong Kong together with HBS clubs and associations across the region.
One day. Six hundred leaders. One question: what does it mean to lead with purpose now?
Geopolitical shifts and technological upheaval are rewriting the rules for business across Asia Pacific. The HBSAHK Signature Conference brings together around six hundred HBS alumni and senior business leaders from across the region for a full day of discussion on how to lead through it.
Expect the HBS way of working: a live case study taught by HBS faculty, expert panels moderated by HBS professors, a lunchtime fireside chat with the Dean, and the kind of conversations that only happen when the whole region is in one room.
The centrepiece of the day is a fireside chat with Srikant Datar, Dean of Harvard Business School, who joins us in person.

Full bio
Dr. Ridha D.M. Wirakusumah is a financial sector leader with more than 30 years of CEO and senior leadership experience across sovereign wealth management, banking, private equity and consumer finance in Indonesia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
He was the Founding Chief Executive Officer of the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), Indonesia’s first sovereign wealth fund, from its establishment in February 2021. Over his five-year term, he built INA’s investment strategy, governance, risk framework and team from zero. Assets under management doubled from USD 5 billion to USD 10 billion, and INA closed 30 transactions deploying around USD 5 billion across infrastructure, renewables, healthcare, digital infrastructure and advanced materials. Landmark transactions included a USD 2.75 billion toll-road platform with ADIA and APG, a USD 7.5 billion seaport alliance with DP World, and a USD 400 million lithium battery-materials plant, the largest outside China. INA also brought first-time institutional investors into Indonesia, including BlackRock, Silk Road Fund, Masdar and SK Plasma, and built partnerships with 43 global institutions from 16 countries.
Governance was a defining feature of his tenure. INA adopted the Santiago Principles as a member of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds. In the 2026 Global SWF scoreboard, its governance score rose to 92% from 72% the previous year, ranking INA 18th among the world’s 200 largest sovereign investors and second in Asia. Harvard Business School selected INA as a case study of the “new breed” of sovereign wealth fund, and he presented the case at Harvard.
In 2022, he chaired the B20 Finance & Infrastructure Task Force under Indonesia’s G20 Presidency. The task force brought together 115 business leaders from 25 countries, including Bill Winters of Standard Chartered, Mark Tucker of HSBC and Marc-André Blanchard of CDPQ.
Before INA, he was President Director & CEO of Bank Permata (2017–2021). There he led the turnaround of a top-ten Indonesian bank and its divestiture to Bangkok Bank, one of Southeast Asia’s most significant cross-border banking transactions. He was previously Head of Indonesia Coverage at KKR, where he led the firm’s first investment in Indonesia, and President Director & CEO of Maybank Indonesia, which he turned from a loss to a USD 65 million profit within two years. Earlier, he served as President & CEO of AIG Consumer Finance Asia Pacific. He spent 11 years at General Electric, including as President & CEO of GE Consumer Finance Asia, where he turned a USD 20 million loss into USD 190 million of net income. He began his career at Citigroup and Bankers Trust.
He is now Founder & CEO of Huutan Capital Partners and a Senior Advisor to Setara Berdaya Group. He holds a DBA from City University of Hong Kong, an MBA and a BSc (cum laude) from Ohio University, and completed the Advanced Management Program at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He is based between Jakarta and Hong Kong.
